Microdermabrasion

What Is Microdermabrasion?

Microdermabrasion is a rejuvenation technique that is performed by exfoliating damaged and dead skin cells. This treatment targets only the outer layer of skin, where a surprising number of dead skin cells are located. By eliminating the thin, dry outer layer, patients are left with the softer, brighter skin underneath. Microdermabrasion can help patients address wrinkles, acne, enlarged pores, age spots, and uneven skin tone and texture.

How is Microdermabrasion Performed?

Microdermabrasion is performed by spraying small, abrasive crystals onto the skin. These crystals gently exfoliate the skin, catching the removed skin cells with a vacuum component. This process is generally comfortable, and only takes about 30 minutes to complete.

Is There Any Downtime After Microdermabrasion?

After microdermabrasion, patients may find that their skin is slightly red or sensitive. These side effects should fade within a few days, but it is important that patients protect their skin from harsh sunlight during this time. Besides this sensitivity, patients should be able to resume their normal activities immediately following their treatment.

What Kind of Results Can I Expect from Microdermabrasion?

Although patients may notice subtle improvements after their first microdermabrasion treatment, it usually takes multiple treatment sessions to achieve optimal results. Most patients begin with a series of several treatments to achieve these results, then adjust to regular treatments every month or every other month to maintain their results.

How Much Does Microdermabrasion Cost?

The cost of your microdermabrasion treatment will depend on the number of treatments necessary to deliver your desired results. When you come in for your initial consultation, we will develop a personalized treatment plan that includes the exact cost of your treatment. As a cosmetic procedure, microdermabrasion is not covered by insurance providers. In order to keep this and other treatments affordable to our patients, we offer financing through CareCredit® and accept all major credit cards.
